A Christmas story for Elizabeth

Here is how a story called "Elizabeth and the Ticking Present" might begin:

The bakery hummed with the joyful afterglow of a busy Christmas Eve, the air still thick with vanilla and yeast. Elizabeth, helping her grandmother tidy up, noticed a small, beautifully wrapped package tucked behind a display of forgotten shortbread. It wasn't one of their usual deliveries, and it looked far too special to be a customer's accidental leaving. The tag, written in elegant script, simply said: 'For whoever finds me.' And from inside, a soft, rhythmic *tick-tock* began, almost imperceptibly.

What happens next? Elizabeth, intrigued by the mysterious package and its delicate ticking, carefully opens it, revealing a wondrous, magical device.
