A Christmas story for Zoey

Here is how a story called "Zoey and the Seeking Reindeer" might begin:

The old farmhouse groaned softly under the weight of the fresh snow, but inside, Zoey was wide awake, the anticipation of Christmas morning buzzing in her bones. The scent of warm cookies lingered, and the fairy lights on the tree cast dancing shadows. Suddenly, a soft, scratching sound came from the back door, unlike the usual rustling of the wind. Zoey crept over and peered through the frosted glass. There, huddled against the stoop, was not an animal, but a small, intricately carved wooden reindeer, its tiny bell missing, and its painted eyes seeming to hold a silent plea. It was quite unlike any decoration she’d ever seen.

What happens next? Zoey soon discovers this little reindeer is a vital, but lost, member of a very special team, now unable to guide its way home.
