A Christmas story for Aaliyah

Here is how a story called "Aaliyah and the River Bird" might begin:

The houseboat gently rocked on the winter river, a cozy haven of twinkling lights amidst the quiet hush of Christmas Eve. Aaliyah watched the icy currents swirl past her window, reflecting the soft glow of her paper lantern. The usual lapping of water against the hull was suddenly interrupted by a series of distinct, urgent taps. *Tap-tap-TAP!* It sounded as if someone was sending a message. She carefully opened the small, porthole window, letting in a gust of crisp, cold air. Floating just beside her, bobbing gently on the dark water, was a miniature, intricately carved wooden bird, its eyes glowing with a faint, warm light.

What happens next? Aaliyah investigates the mysterious tapping, discovering a magical wooden bird that carries an urgent, unspoken message about Christmas Eve.
