A Christmas story for Landon

Here is how a story called "Landon and the Chime of the Star" might begin:

The scent of pine and woodsmoke filled Landon’s cabin, a comforting embrace against the deep snow outside. He was arranging pinecones on the mantelpiece when a faint, musical chime drifted from the forest. It wasn't the wind, nor the rustle of animals; this sound was pure and ethereal, like tiny bells made of ice. Curious, Landon bundled up and ventured onto the porch. There, caught on a low-hanging branch of a snow-laden spruce, was a single, delicate crystal ornament, glowing with an inner light, and humming with a quiet, insistent melody. It looked like a miniature star.

What happens next? Landon soon realizes this magical ornament is a vital piece of a much larger, and very urgent, Christmas Eve puzzle.
