A Christmas story for Nora

Here is how a story called "Nora and the Bakery Feather" might begin:

The busy bakery hummed with the sweet symphony of Christmas Eve – clinking tins, simmering spices, happy chatter. Nora, usually swamped in flour and frosting, was just finishing up the last batch of gingerbread cookies when she noticed something odd. Flung carelessly onto the cooling rack, among the gingerbread men, was a single, brightly colored feather, not from any bird she knew. It shimmered with an impossible, almost magical glow. And then, a faint, almost imperceptible sniffle seemed to echo from the back room, a sound too big for any ordinary person.

What happens next? Nora will follow the mysterious feather and discover a very important, very large, and very sad visitor in need of cheer.
