A Christmas story for Nathan

Here is how a story called "Nathan and the Ice Reindeer" might begin:

Nathan’s houseboat gently swayed on the winter river, a cozy island against the frosted cityscape. He was just finishing a drawing of a particularly majestic swan when he noticed something truly odd floating past the window. It wasn't a log, or a discarded toy. It was a tiny, intricately crafted ice sculpture of a reindeer, complete with delicate antlers and a cheerful red nose. As it drifted closer, a faint, almost imperceptible plume of shimmering, golden dust trailed behind it, hinting at a magic Nathan had only read about in books. It looked utterly perfect, but completely out of place.

What happens next? Nathan soon realizes this little ice reindeer is a magical messenger carrying a secret that will change Christmas Eve.
