A Christmas story for Madeline

Here is how a story called "Madeline and the Whispering Map" might begin:

Deep in the silent pines, Madeline’s cozy cabin glowed with the warmth of a crackling fire on Christmas Eve. Snowflakes, fat and silent, drifted past the window, blanketing the forest in pristine white. Madeline was carefully arranging her favorite woodland ornaments on a small spruce branch when a soft, almost imperceptible whisper drifted from the darkest corner of the cabin. It wasn’t the wind, nor the fire’s crackle. It sounded like a voice, incredibly faint, yet distinct, murmuring: “*Lost…lost…the way…*” Madeline’s heart gave a little flutter. The whisper seemed to come from the antique map of the northern stars that hung above her fireplace.

What happens next? Madeline investigates the mysterious whispers emanating from an old star map, realizing that it holds a secret that could change Christmas Eve.
