A Christmas story for Leonardo

Here is how a story called "Leonardo and the Lone Bell" might begin:

The wind howled a frosty lullaby around Leonardo’s snowy farmhouse, making the windowpanes rattle like sleigh bells. He was tucked snug in his bed, dreaming of gingerbread men and flying reindeer when a soft, insistent tapping startled him awake. It wasn't the wind this time; it was a rhythmic, almost metallic *clink-clink-clink* coming from just outside his bedroom window. Peeking through the frosted glass, Leonardo’s eyes widened at the sight of a magnificent, snow-dusted reindeer, its antlers brushing against the eaves, a single, tarnished silver bell tangled in a low-hanging branch. One bell. Just one, where should have been many.

What happens next? Leonardo soon discovers this lone bell holds the key to a very important, very urgent Christmas Eve mystery.
