A Christmas story for Jordan

Here is how a story called "Jordan and the Fading Stardust" might begin:

The busy bakery buzzed with the last-minute rush of Christmas Eve, the air thick with the aroma of sugarplums and warm bread. Jordan, helping his aunt with the final batch of gingerbread, noticed a curious, almost invisible ripple of heat emanating from the old brick oven, even though it had been off for hours. He cautiously peered inside and gasped. Tucked amongst the cooling racks was not bread, but a small, shimmering, translucent bag filled with what looked like miniature stardust, slowly fading with each passing second. It felt incredibly warm to the touch, almost alive.

What happens next? Jordan soon discovers that this fading stardust is a crucial element missing from a very important Christmas delivery.
