A Christmas story for Ian

Here is how a story called "Ian and the Clock Tower Bird" might begin:

The crisp, cold air of the mountain village carried the scent of pine and woodsmoke, a perfect lullaby on Christmas Eve. Ian, nestled by the window in his small, cozy home, watched the snow fall softly on the ancient, gnarled fir trees. He loved the quiet of the mountains. But tonight, the quiet was broken by a repetitive, soft thudding sound, coming from the old clock tower in the village square. It wasn't the bell; it was softer, heavier. Peering out, he saw not the clock’s usual hands, but a large, intricately carved wooden bird, stuck on the minute hand, its wings flapping uselessly.

What happens next? Ian soon discovers the stuck wooden bird is a magical messenger whose predicament threatens Christmas deliveries.
